Setting out water bottles for members, NHS treasurer Kristine Villacrucis helps prepare snacks for the meeting. At NHS meetings, members are usually greeted with drinks and food and are later given the opportunity to earn service hours. “Our main goal is to make an impact on the community in any way we can.” NHS President Michael Haley said. “We want to inspire all our members to be an active part of the community moving forward.”

Speaking to members of Health Occupation Students of America, President-Elect Aldrich Razon shares announcements about fundraisers, events and activities. Members had the opportunity to earn service hours if they decided to participate. “HOSA is sentimental to me because it’s a club that I joined as an underclassman and I feel like it’s something that has helped me make memories within my high school career through volunteering, meeting new people and growing as a leader and individual,” Razon said. “I would say I have found a home in HOSA because it's a place where I feel so comfortable. It’s a place that’s so special to me because everyone there is so amazing.”

The fear of missing out (FOMO) has been shown to have adverse effects on many teenagers’ confidence. FOMO is especially commonly experienced in teenagers. “I think the most frustrating part about experiencing FOMO is the fact that you can't necessarily do anything about it,” senior Branson Williams said. “You know your feelings aren't going to be known unless you say something to the people that you know may have left you out in a situation. [It’s] the fact that nobody's going to know how you really feel unless you tell them.”

Sophomore Micah Casimiro celebrates after securing a qualifying win at the Youth Breaking Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. The competition marked the payoff of weeks of preparation and steady confidence. “I was really happy because it was something I really trained for,” Casimiro said. “At the end, I had fun with it and it got me the win. It meant a lot because I was able to go to the championships with my qualification from this tournament.”
